Lunchtime Links for October 18th, 2013

Lunchtime Links is published every Friday at noon. I’ll share a couple of links I found throughout the week and how they may impact your food business.

Free holiday stock photography from HubSpot

It’s always hard to find free stock photography to use for email newsletters, e-commerce sales pages, and signs at events. Thanks to HubSpot, you don’t have to struggle. They provided 250 free holiday-themed pictures you can use.

Oreos may be as addictive as cocaine, study finds

I put this one in for giggles. I always knew there was something about eating an entire sleeve of Oreos in one sitting. But, this also has implications for your food business. Oreos are full of nasty ingredients that make you eat 40 in one sitting. Does your food product contain ingredients you can pronounce? Maybe it’s time to promote that.

Hershey unveils its first new brand in 30 years

Have you ever been to Hershey Park? It’s awesome. Seriously awesome. This came across my radar this week and I wasn’t so surprised about the brand-launch, but how much time and money went into figuring out what they were going to launch – several years of research in fact! Have you done your market research for food products?

The Daily Table sells expired food

Now, this is different. How many times have consumers thrown away food that’s perfectly good – it’s just past its expiration? Yeah – you and me included. Now, there’s a store selling all of that expired food. Interesting read. Is there a place where you sell your product that’s too close to expiration?
